Director and founder of Cia. Mar Gómez, she studies Fine Arts, classical and contamporary dance. After working as a dancer in various companies between 1998 and 1992 (Cía Peatones, Madrid, 1998; Cia Didier Theron, Montpelier; Cia Dominique Bauet, Montpellier; Cia Avelina Argüelles, Barcelona), in 1992 she creates Cia. Mar Gomez after one of her creations is awarded the 1st Prize at Madrid’s Certamen Coreográfico in 1991 and Barcelona’s Ricard Moragas Contest in 1992.
Her work in framed in the dance theatre field. It’s main characteristics being the narrativity in her work, a meticulous building of the characters in her pieces through physical theater and choreographic work, an intense physicality and her personal use of sense of humor in each and every one of her works.
Between her most acclaimed creations we can highlight "La matanja de Tezas" (Teatre Lliure, Barcelona 1993); "Levadura Madre" (El Espacio 1998); "Hay un pícaro en el Corral" (Teatro Rialto, Valencia 2001); "La casa del este" (Catalonian’s National Theatre TNC 2002); "El Gancho "(Gran Teatro del Liceo 2006); "Dios Menguante" (Teatro Olimpia 2006); "Perdiendo el tiempo" (Mercat de les Flors, Barcelona 2011); "Sempervivum" (Festival Sismògraf 2020).
Apart from her work with her own company she has also collaborated in numerous theatre shows directed, between others by, Ariel García Valdés, Calixto Bieito, T de Teatro, Monti & Cia, Lluís Danés, Ricard Salvat, Roger Gual, Albert Boadella and Magda Puyo.
She has receved among others the Max Award (Main Spanish Performing Arts Awards) to the Best Female performer 2008, the Barcelona Award 2010 for “Dios Menguante” and the Valencian Critics Award 1993 for the show "La matanja de Tezas".
